Since 1901, Marist School has been a premier example of Catholic education and teaching to young students in the metro Atlanta area.  In 1996, under the leadership of Father Konzen, Marist School began its speech and debate program.  For twenty years, the speech and debate team has been providing students the opportunity to learn life skills such as critical thinking, debating, communication, and logical reasoning.  Our program is committed to fulfilling the school's vision as a national model in college-preparatory education by developing critical thinkers and ethical problem solvers in an inclusive community rich in opportunities for student success.  Read more about the history of the program.

The Marist Speech & Debate Program is nationally recognized and affiliated as a Charter Chapter member school of the National Speech & Debate Association, and locally recognized and affiliated as a FIVE time School of Excellence (2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017) of the Georgia Forensic Coaches Association.
